Welcome to SoPoet. By creating an account or using SoPoet, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
SoPoet lets you share “poetgraphs” — images paired with poems of up to seven lines — and follow and interact with other poets. You can spark a poetgraph (our word for a like) and leave a gloss (our word for a comment). SoPoet also recognises poem forms such as haiku, awards badges and titles, counts posting streaks, sets a word of the day, and runs a weekly theme (see section 5). SoPoet is currently in beta: the service is provided as-is and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time.
You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use SoPoet.
You retain ownership of the images and poems you post. By posting, you grant SoPoet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display that content for the purpose of operating the service. You can delete your posts, or your whole account, at any time; deleting your account removes your profile, posts, sparks, glosses, and follows.
Your profile and everything you post are public. They can be seen by people who are not signed in, and may be indexed by search engines.
Poetgraphs and glosses belong to the people who wrote them. Do not copy, republish, or reuse someone else’s work from SoPoet without their permission.
Each week we may set a theme. Entering is optional: you enter a poetgraph by ticking the box when you post it, and the entry is fixed at that point. If you enter, you agree that:
The winner is the entry with the most sparks when the week ends. Glosses break a tie, and a remaining tie is settled at random. There is no prize other than being featured. We may decline to feature an entry that breaches these terms, and we may cancel or change a theme at any time.
If you would rather a winning poetgraph was not used in this way, delete the post or contact us before the week ends. Once something has been published to a social media platform we will remove it from our own accounts on request, but we cannot always undo copies or reshares made by other people.
You agree not to post content (including poems, images, glosses, and profile details) that:
We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these terms.
SoPoet shows you notifications in the app when someone sparks your poetgraph, glosses it, follows you, or when you earn a title. If you choose to, you can also receive these as push notifications on your device. Push is entirely optional and you can turn it off at any time in Settings, or in your browser or device settings.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SoPoet is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example by a notice in the app. Continuing to use SoPoet after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
